Overview

SmartBottle is an unofficial iOS application that connects directly to your REBO smart water bottle over Bluetooth. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your choices.

This policy covers both the mobile app (SmartBottle) and this website.

Information We Collect

From the iOS App

  • Bottle data: Water level (in ml), battery percentage, drink/refill events. This data is processed locally on your device.
  • Health data: If you enable Apple Health integration, the app writes Dietary Water records to Apple Health. We never read other Health data unless you grant permission.
  • Local settings: Your daily goal, reminder preferences, calibration overrides, and notification schedule are stored only on your device using standard iOS storage.
  • Bluetooth connection: The app communicates directly with the bottle hardware. No data is sent to any server.

From this Website

  • We do not collect personal information when you visit this site.
  • If you use donation links (GitHub Sponsors, Ko-fi, etc.), those platforms collect payment information according to their own privacy policies.
  • Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type) may be temporarily recorded by the hosting provider (Vercel) for security and performance. These logs are not used to identify individuals.

How We Use Information

  • To provide the core functionality of the app (showing water levels, tracking intake, sending reminders).
  • To optionally write water intake to Apple Health when you turn the feature on.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
  • We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs in the app at this time.

Data Storage and Retention

Almost all data stays on your device. The only data that leaves your device is:

  • Water intake records you choose to write to Apple Health
  • Crash reports and diagnostics sent through TestFlight (handled by Apple)

There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no servers operated by this project.

Your Rights and Choices

  • You can disable Health integration at any time in Settings.
  • You can delete the app to remove all local data.
  • You control all notifications and reminder schedules.
  • For data stored in Apple Health, use the Health app to review or delete entries.

Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Third-Party Services

This project uses the following third-party services:

  • Apple Health (optional) – when enabled by you
  • TestFlight (Apple) – for beta distribution and crash reporting
  • Donation platforms you choose to use (GitHub, Ko-fi, etc.)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app or site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
